We are hiring a Network Administrator at our Langley, BC head office! Here are the details:

As the Network Administrator you will maintain a reliable, secure and efficient data communications network. The ideal candidate will be able to deploy, configure, maintain and monitor all active network equipment in order to ensure smooth network operation.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Fully support, configure, maintain and upgrade corporate customer’s networks and in-house servers
  • Install and integrate new server hardware and applications
  • Support and administer third-party applications
  • Ensure network security and connectivity
  • Monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency) and test for weaknesses.
  • Set up user accounts, permissions and passwords
  • Define network policies and procedures
  • Research and make recommendations on server system administration
  • Resolve user issues where possible or direct unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel
  • Research, develop and propose a solution to user issues and requests
  • Communicate effectively with clients to help with resolution of issues, providing progress updates, and system changes
  • Support technical projects as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU HAVE TO OFFER:

Required:

  • Proven experience in a network administrator role
  • Associate or certificate program in Computer science, A+ or relevant technical experience
  • Experience with Windows Server, SQL Administration, VMWare
  • Experience with firewalls, Internet VPN’s remote implementation
  • Hands on experience in networking, routing and switching
  • Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure
  • Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies
  • Strong troubleshooting, and problem resolution skills
  • Self-motivated and focused with a passion for technology and customer satisfaction
  • Able to maintain confidential information
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Able to deal with people tactfully and professionally at all times
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude

Nice to have:

  • Crystal Reports or other report writing experience
  • TSQL or VB Scripting

A Familiar Face…

Redwood Plastics is welcoming Jim Vail onboard as Business Development Manager. Jim has established anVail_1 impressive career in plastics over the last 36 years. Starting with Industrial Plastics Inc., Jim worked with lumber and paper mills – two of Redwood’s key industries. Later, as West Coast Regional Sales Manager for Ultra Poly and then Polymer Industries, Jim worked closely with Redwood’s sales staff on new applications and assisted us in problem solving for our customers.

When Jim became available recently it was a no-brainer to not pass up on his extensive experience and contacts. His relationships within Redwood itself made him a natural fit. While Jim will be based out of our Woodland, Washington location – he is part of Redwood’s corporate staff and will work with all the branches.

In addition to his fondness for our people, Jim enjoys how his career has brought him full circle, “This move puts me back to my roots…developing new business and product applications in the lumber, paper and food processing markets.”

 

Welcoming Two New Faces

Redwood Plastics is pleased to announce two new members: Brad Wilson and Barret Magdalin. Brad is a familybrad-wilson man who has joined our Atlanta branch in Outside Sales. Brad will be finding  business in emerging opportunities, such as new mills or packaging facilities being built. Brad enjoys spending time with his family and officiates high school basketball and volleyball. Brad likes Chick-Fil-A sandwiches and his sports. Brad’s biggest dislike? His daughter Emily heading off to college this year.

Barret has joined Saskatoon branch as their new Outside Sales rep. Barret has abarret couple kids: Kaila and Parker, both in their teens. He is a rabid Saskatchewan Roughriders fan – which is fine, but he is also a die-hard Toronto Maple Leaf’s fan – and he would prefer the jeers to be left to a minimum on that one! Barret enjoys keeping up with his two favorite teams…When he isn’t running around with his teenagers!

We want to give a little send off to our outgoing Edmonton branch manager, Al Liptak, who is retiring. It will be cigars and sun for Al from now on. Longtime outside sales rep Gilles Bileau has accepted the position of branch manager while Tom Ough will manage the inside and warehouse under the new position of Operations Manager.

Welcome Tyler!

Atlanta branch is pleased to welcome Tyler Marsh into the fold. Tyler will be working in outside sales and has already been with the branch for a few weeks, attending the Strongwell tour in late September with the rest of our crew. Tyler is a local boy, growing up in Woodstock, GA and attended the University of South Carolina. Tyler is an avid, very low handicap golfer and enjoys spending time with friends, family and his fiancee. Tyler describes himself as competitive and disliking negativity, tardiness…And mushrooms! Congratulations are in order as Tyler and his fiancee, Jenn, will be married this April in Roswell, GA.

Inside Sales & Business Development Assistant – Langley, BC

Since 1971 Redwood Plastics has worked with customers to find solutions for a variety of problems including shock, abrasion, noise and wear. In conjunction with our manufacturing partners, Redwood Plastics mold, machines and fabricates a variety of industrial plastic solutions across a variety of industries.

Our Langley, BC branch is currently looking to add a full-time self-motivated and enthusiastic Inside Sales & Business Development Assistant. This individual would assist and report to our current business development professional and would be tasked with proactively developing new business and accounts in a variety of industries across North America, primarily through the telephone, by developing a relationship with prospects and finding solutions to problems using our plastic.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Developing new business through cold calling
  • Conducting research to find prospects
  • Assisting with various other sales tasks as required

Our successful candidate will have a/an:

  • Demonstrable track record of success in a sales environment
  • Engaging personality, ability to quickly become comfortable on the phone
  • Strong ability to learn technical information, understand new industries in a short time
  • Responsible, cooperative attitude combined with a high degree of professionalism
  • Completed post-secondary business program at an accredited institution

Redwood Plastics is pleased to welcome Steve Laing to our team! Steve has joined us as Saskatchewan in Technical Inside Sales. Steve Rider gameSteve is a huge sports fan and enjoys Football, Baseball, Snowmobiling and Waterskiing amongst others. Steve enjoys spicy foods and hates soccer, pineapple, and black olives. He owns some impressive sports memorabilia including Ken Griffey Jr. rookie cards and signed jerseys. He also is a roller coaster fanatic.

Steve enjoys travelling to various sporting events around the world and lists Las Vegas as his favorite vacation spot. We know Dale and his crew in Saskatchewan are happy to have Steve aboard – and so are the rest of us!
