Hiring In Langley: Fabricator/Liner Installer

Redwood Plastics and Rubber is pleased to offer a new position in our emerging installation department. The Fabricator/Liner Installer will be responsible for reading blueprints and drawings to determine both the materials needed and to create the required layouts. This individual will then be required to use a variety of tools and machinery to make the necessary cuts and other fabrication for the complete units. Travel to our client’s sites will be required and on-site travel costs, food, and lodging will be covered by the company.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze blueprints and engineering drawings to assess materials requirement, and plan the sequence of tasks to layout, cut and fit product.
  • Create and construct patterns and guides as templates for cutting.
  • Operate light machinery, power tools and hand tools.
  • Assemble components into complete units or sub-unit.
  • Perform all work to organizational standards to ensure final product meets quality standards.
  • Ensure products are produced to specification.
  • Accurately record time to work orders.
  • Perform all functions of the job safely.
  • Travel and onsite installation is required as needed.
  • Integral part of a team that installs industrial plastic, polyurethane or ceramic liners

Skills, Education and Experience:

  • Experience in a production environment and/or with plastics is an asset
  • Experience with a table saw, drill press and hand tools is an asset however training will be provided.
  • Able to read a tape measure
  • Ceramic tile experience preferred but not required
  • Welding experiences is an asset, preferably plastic welding
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to read and interpret blue prints, drawings and general work instructions
  • Experience in a production environment an asset
  • Able to lift 50 lbs consistently throughout the day.
  • Possesses manual dexterity, attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Able to prioritize and maintain productivity levels as specified.

MANUFACTURING PROCESS
ENGINEER – LANGLEY, BC

Collect, analyze and report on performance metrics for all processes to drive continuous improvement activities.
• Evaluate root-causes to manufacturing issues and develop unique solutions.
• Design manufacturing equipment, jigs and fixtures with a focus on quality, cost, capacity, automation, and preventative maintenance.
• Review Engineering Designs, BOMs, 3D models and quality specifications in order to translate the intent and expectation of the product design into the manufacturing process
• Use digital tools like Syspro and Microsoft PowerPoint to create work instructions that effectively communicate how to produce and assemble parts at a production pace
• Use Microsoft Excel and Microsoft BI to generate reports and plan day to day tasks
• Thrive in an environment that requires high-level communication to Technical and Trades type employees
• Provide leadership to the organization by organizing activities, communicating knowledge of and demonstrating competence in applying Lean Manufacturing principles

SKILLS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor degree in Applied Science, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 2+ years relevant work experience in a similar capacity.
• Be able to read drawings, BOMs, and have knowledge of inspection methodology and inspection tools
• Have good computer skills; capable of working with MS Office, knowledge of 3D CAD or Solidworks.
• Prepares Process Flow Charts, PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis) documents, Control Plans and Work Instructions.
• Utilizes LEAN, Six Sigma, and other best practice tools and principles for day-to-day problem solving and continuous improvement.
• Be able to communicate and manage your time as part of a high-functioning team
• Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills; both written and verbal.

SWING SHIFT LEAD – WOODLAND, WA

Redwood Plastics and Rubber is seeking a Swing Shift Lead to join our growing team.
Redwood Swing Shift Leads work 4 days per week and 10 hrs per day (Mon – Thu). Our Leads are decisive, demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and are passionate about teaching our team members. Primary responsibilities include monitoring and improving product quality, human productivity, delivery methods, technical processes, safety, and minimizing cost. Focus should be placed on collaborating with other supervisors, management, and other team leads to achieve company goals and KPI’s. As a Lead, your decisions will directly impact manufacturing and therefore the success of our team and the company.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

INSIDE SALES – SPOKANE, WA

The Inside Sales Department works cooperatively with our outside sales team, Manufacturing Planning Department, Logistics Department, and other departments of our company to grow existing customers, create new customers, and meet or exceed monthly sales budgets at the appropriate gross margin while increasing customer satisfaction.

• Utilize relationship selling/customer focused selling techniques by working closely with customers to solve their problems, increase their profits and/or increase their productivity
• Generate new and repeat sales by providing product and technical information in a timely matter
• Determine customer requirements and expectations in order to recommend specific products and solutions based on cost, availability, or specifications to increase customer satisfaction and improve transaction profitability
• Increase sales and average order size by means of cross-selling, up-selling, and add-on sales
• Present price, credit, and terms in accordance with procedures and customer’s profitability profiles
• Accurately process customer transactions such as orders and quotes
• Utilize materials to maintain accurate inventory
• Send manufactured orders through the Manufacturing Planning Department

Marketing Department Welcomes Devon Masters!

Redwood Plastics and Rubber is pleased to announce the hiring of Devon Masters who joins the marketing department based out of our Langley, BC location. Devon is our newest “Business Development” representative.

Devon comes to us after spending a few years with Applied Industrial, a company involved in similar industries as Redwood. Devon grew up in Delta, BC from Burns View Secondary. He is both an avid fan of playing sports like hockey, as well as watching both the NHL and NFL. He’s a gamer who enjoys PC and Playstation 4 games as well as a movies from a variety of genres. He enjoys spending his weekend at Cultus Lake during the spring/summer months.

Taking Home The Hardware

Redwood Plastics and Rubber was rewarded richly with individual and team honors at the recent IAPD (International Association of Plastics Distribution) convention in Chicago this past week. As a team we brought home the Education Circle of Champions Gold Award once again! Having our employees do their work with the firm foundation of IAPD education is a priority for our company and we will continue to encourage educational growth. Our VP of Marketing, Angela Rodenburgh, brought home the Pacesetter Award. This award is given each year to the IAPD member who takes charge, volunteers his or her time, in moving the IAPD forward as well as the plastics industry as whole. Angela has been in the forefront for years working on plastics as a career for women, on how new regulation affects the industry, and has been on several committees within the IAPD.

Secondly, Matt Blom also in our marketing department was the fourth person inducted into the “Honor Society”. This society is for individuals who have gone above and beyond in their pursuit of being plastic experts and have personally embraced the educational opportunities the IAPD affords. Matt had completed all other available courses when he offered to be the “guinea pig” to take the brand new course “Excellence In Sales Level II”. This test took over a year to complete and required a 100% score to pass.
